Why Do I Have Cravings?

Even though there are numerous reasons why cravings occur, blood sugar balance is usually the most common cause of them. Establish balance.

Don't allow yourself to become a breast cancer victim. Besides regular breast screenings, early detection, family history, self exams, learning about your breast density and using medical resources, there are numerous other things you can do with your diet and lifestyle to reduce the odds of getting breast cancer.

Last week I discussed medical guidelines for deciding on a healthy goal weight. Today I will explore other questions you may want to ask yourself to see if you can healthfully maintain that decided weight loss goal. There is no point in losing weight only to be struggling really hard to keep it off at this weight, if it's not realistic to maintain.

What Is A Healthy Body Fat Percentage?

Yesterday I discussed measuring belly fat accurately but today I also want to cover the importance of actual body fat percentages. (Your body fat percentage is printed on the bottom of your weekly weigh-in receipt.) The Mayo Clinic and other health professionals also use this as a general guideline for health. As I mentioned you can look a normal weight but if your body fat percentage is still too high you still may not be healthy as you could be. Exercise can go a long way in helping you get your body fat percentage down but it does take a while.

Measuring Waist Circumference Accurately

The other day I discussed how even normal weight people can still be at risk for diseases like heart disease and diabetes. Today's emphasis is more on measuring waist circumference accurately since it's so important to controlling dangerous belly fat related to heart disease and diabetes. The problem with waist circumference is that many people do not know how to accurately measure this waist measurement.

Back Pain and Weight Loss

The other day I saw a patient who had already lost 30 pounds on our CMWM program. She was so excited! She expressed how she was fitting into her old clothes again and how great she was feeling. Even more importantly, she was so surprised how all her back pain was actually gone after losing 30 pounds (she had 30 more to go).
