Earth Day - 2018

Written by
April 22nd, Earth Day, is almost here. You might wonder how this unique holiday came to be? This observance originally got started from an interest in gathering national support for our increasing environmental issues.
In 1970, San Francisco activist John McConnell and Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson separately asked Americans to join in a grassroots demonstration for this acknowledgment of our natural environment. McConnell chose the the spring equinox (the beginning of spring) and Nelson chose April 22. Millions of people participate, and today, Earth Day continues to be widely celebrated mostly on April 22nd.
Common Earth Day activities include planting trees, cleaning up litter, or simply enjoying nature through hiking, gardening, or taking a stroll in a local park. Just go outside if you do nothing else. Breathe the fresh air, put your bare feet into the ground and just choose to be in touch with mother nature in some way!
When you think about, every day we should honor our mother earth so we can keep our environment clean and healthy. After all it supports us with what we eat every day. What are you doing to honor the day?
