Easter Sunday - 2019

Written by

The other day I discussed some Easter trivia but today I want to discuss this special day in a more serious tone.

It's probably no surprise that some Christians may feel strongly that the day on which we celebrate Jesus' resurrection should not be referred to as "Easter Sunday." (Maybe we've never even thought about it before...) Maybe it should be referred as something like "Resurrection Sunday" instead. It might just seem almost disrespectful to allow the media to trivialize this special holiday with Easter eggs and the Easter bunny to be the focus of the day instead of Jesus' resurrection. I'm sure much of it had to due with monetary gains from food manufacturers while making the appeal to our children. All parents fight this with the media. While this is really not entirely wrong it's still something to think about and children should probably know the real meaning of Easter too when the timing is appropriate. (This could probably apply to the entire Christmas season as well.)

So, celebrate Christ's resurrection on Easter Sunday. Christ's resurrection is something that should be celebrated actually every day, and its promise should not be for just once a year. At the same time, when we celebrate Easter Sunday as adults, we should not allow all the fun and games to distract our attention from what the day should truly be all about - the fact that Jesus was resurrected from the dead, and that His resurrection demonstrates that we can indeed be promised an eternal home in Heaven by receiving Jesus as our Savior. Another slant to all this, is that His resurrection is also representing a new life, an improved life we can choose here on earth, regardless how that looks on a day to day basis.

So, whatever you call this religious holiday and how you celebrate it, you might also think about how you can improve yourself, physically, emotionally and of course, spiritually. We will all benefit with positive change

"Jesus Christ did not come into this world to make bad people good; He came into this world to make 'dead" people really live." When we make good choices for ourselves and others in everything we do we become truly alive and happy.
