Trans fats, also called hydrogenated fats. They are unhealthy man made fat and you should avoid them whenever you can in your everyday diet plan. Trans fats cause significant lowering of HDL (good) cholesterol and a serious increase in LDL (bad) cholesterol. They make the arteries more rigid and they cause major clogging of arteries. Additionally they cause insulin resistance and can contribute to type 2 diabetes and other serious health problems.
