The other day I promised I'd discuss ways to tap deeply into your motivation. At the beginning of the year it is easier to be motivated to lose weight after a month of overindulging. But the harsh reality is, later the newness of a diet wears off. Motivation is a feeling, it will come and go. It's up to you to stoke the fire of momentum and keep it glowing.

Keep Your New Year's Resolution

Every year millions start the infamous New Year's resolution to lose weight. Sadly though, it's frequently forgotten by early February (or sooner). So how do you keep that resolution really stick?

Did you know that during the time of the Roman Empire, when a prisoner was released from prison, he was given a white stone. This was a symbol that he had a fresh start, a clean slate. When you had a white stone you left your old stories behind you and started a new one. You were even given a new name.

Are you thinking of implementing a weight loss plan think this year?

As redundant as this may sound, dare to still think of it as the beginning of creating a new you on many levels. Think of it as the beginning of a year of discovery and excitement because you will uncover skills and strengths you never thought you even had when you finally follow through with this enormous goal. Weight loss as you might already know, is an endeavor which requires a magnitude of skills to conquer. I know because I did it myself.

Too Many Challenges

Are you feeling just a bit overwhelmed with all the temptations surrounding you right now?

You are no doubt probably slammed with them, no matter where you are, both day and night. It would be human nature to just throw in the towel and say, "Why bother even trying at this point?" Even though things have escalated don't succumb to this temptation because that might just guarantee failure, especially if you tend to have the "all or nothing" personality type.
