Back Pain and Excess Weight

Diabetes and heart disease are always risk factors when it comes to being overweight, but back pain is yet one other health problem associated with being overweight.

According to the American Obesity Association, musculoskeletal pain and specifically low back pain, occur among the nearly one-third of Americans who are classified as obese. It also reports that the more obese people are, the more disabled and even less capable they are to perform  other regular everyday activitites. Attention to weight management is one more important reason to monitor your weight because each pound adds more strain with musculoskeletal and joint related pain.

Remember Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a US federal holiday. It occurs every year on the final Monday of May. It should be a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the US Armed Forces, formerly known as Decoration Day. This day originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the Civil War. By the 20th century, Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died while in the military service.

So instead of using it as another day off to just play, picnic and overeat, don't forget to give the day a little thought about the great sacrifices these special people made for your freedom. You too can sacrifice a bit by not eating to excess and honor your own life with the respect of healthy moderate eating.
