Valentine's Day 2017

Written by

We know someone has the key to your heart, but at CMWM we believe a Happy Valentine’s Day should also relate to the key to good health!

Tomorrow is the big day so what are you planning for your loved one? You want to indulge but there are ways to do that without it revolving totally around decadent food that will break your diet and literally damage your heart (February is Heart Month too). So how do you do all that then? Here’s how:

•Instead of buying sweets and the traditional candy, purchase gifts with more permanence. Try a poem that describes your true heartfelt feelings (I'm sure you can find something on the internet if you aren't into actually writing the poem yourself!). Then take the time to write it out on some special Valentine paper. (And of course there is always jewelry, right?)
•Time cannot be bought, so make some special time exclusively with your loved one. Depending on the area where you live, go ice skating or rent a cabin and cuddle by the fire. (Doing this at home can work too of course as long as the kids aren't around.) Even taking a romantic walk in the evening can work. Just make it a special date night for the two of you.
•Cook at home so you can control both the quality of the food and how much you eat. Use a CMWM Recipe Book or any recipe from the clinic's patient recipe book in the lobby for healthier, yet tasty items. Then set the table with your best china and make it a romantic candlelight dinner.
•In line with the point above, stay with healthier choices. Take an old recipe and re-do it in a healthier way.
•If you can't avoid something sweet give your sweetheart CMWM Chocolate Delites, chocolate that is entirely "legal" on the diet program! Or try a nice gift basket of seasonal fruit.
•Still stuck, look for more ideas on your patient Tips and Tools  monthly booklet.

Remember too, "The best love is the kind that awakens the soul, that makes us reach for more, that plants the fire in our hearts, and gives us peace to our minds." –The Notebook
